Earth is the only planet we know of that contains life.  Earth is ideal for life to exist because of its rich supply of water and oxygen.  If the Earth were much closer to the sun, the water would boil away.  If Earth were farther away from the sun, the water would freeze.  Earth's thick
atmosphere also helps support life by regulating the climate.  There are millions of life forms on Earth, from bacteria to  plants to humans.
